Ferry remains aground

The 'Mutiara Indonesia' remains aground by Oct 22 and could not be easily refloated due to its location. Local authorities in vain had tried to free the vessel which was wedged between rocks which made salvage operations complicated.

Ferry along with vehicles still stuck after months

The "Mutiara Indonesie" which had run aground near Kondo Island in Lombok on May 11 due to a malfunction of the engine, remained stuck near Karang Island by Sep 25. The owners of the vehicles that were still on board the stranded vessel have sent their complaints as they have yet to receive any confirmation on when the vessel or their vehicles will be evacuated.

Ferry ran aground near Poto Tano port

On May 11, 2019, the engine of the "Mutiara Indonesia" malfunctioned which caused the ferry to go adrift and run aground about 30 minutes after departing Poto Tano Port. Local authorities were waiting for high tide before attempting to refloat the vessel which was stuck near Kondo Island in Lombok. A Pos Kayangan Search and Rescue team was dispatched to safely evacuate the passengers on board.
