Grounding at Ravelseidet

Tue Dec 26 18:06:45 CET 2017 Timsen

The "Eidholm" ran aground in the Rot Sound at Ravelseidet off Langslett in Nordreisa on Dec 25, 2017, at 10.58 p.m. The vessel got stuck on a sandy bottom, and there was no damage to the hull. The ship had sailed from Tromsö-Breivika to fishfarms in the morning of Dec 24. The crew was waiting for a higher water level to get the ship off again, which succeeded on Dec 26 at 2.30 a.m., and sailed on with own power. Molo Trader sailing again

Wed Oct 26 09:46:00 CEST 2011 Timsen

The "Molo Trader" on Oct 24 sailed from Maloy to Sarpsborg after the engine trouble was fixed. Norwegian report on the salvage by the "Knester" with photo and video: http://www.bt.no/nyheter/lokalt/Reddet-i-siste-minutt-2598937.html

Molo Trader stopped off the rocks

Mon Oct 24 09:41:55 CEST 2011 Timsen

The "Molo Trader" was only a few steps from being crushed against the rocks south of Buholmen in the night of Oct 23, 2011. Fortunately, the f/v "Knester" was not far away when the cargo ship suffered engine failure 2.30 a.m. and sent distress calls only 180 meters from the shore in rough seas and bad weather. There were a few dramatic minutes. The "Knester" had to get a heaving line on board the freighter to get hold of the ropes in the middle of dark night and very close to land. The "Knester" was able to keep the vessel off the rocks for two hours before they got relief from the lifeboat "Emmy Dyvi" and the tug "BB Ocean" which shared the job of towing the ship to Borgundfjorden where it arrived in Humla in the afternoon of Oct 23.
