One dead in collision with fishing boat

Tue Jan 05 11:41:10 CET 2021 Timsen

On Dec 31, 2020, a Mexican fishing vessel was in collision with the 'Farley Mowat' in the Gulf of California. One fisherman was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Mexicali where he died. Another man who was injured too, was stable. The Sea-Shepherd-activists had collected drifting nets when they were reportedly attacked with molotow cocktails. When the 'Farley Mowat' left the scene, the accident occurred, and the fishing boat broke in two. The relatives of the crew alleged it had been hiton purpose.

Sea Shepherd shipp attacked and damaged by fishermen

Mon Feb 04 18:26:43 CET 2019 Timsen

On Jan 31, 2019, Sea Shepherd's "Farley Mowat" was attacked by 50 fishermen. They were aboard 20 high-speed craft and attacked the "Farley Mowat", which was routinely patrolling the Vaquita Refuge in the upper Gulf of California. Molotov cocktails were thrown against the vessel, along with, among other things, lead weights and large rocks, which smashed the windows and ignited fire on the port side of the Sea Shepherd ship. The Sea Shepherd crew responded by using fire hoses while Mexican marines and federal police officers on board fired shots into the air and sea to deter the attackers.
