Santa Paula detained in Bonaire
The "Santa Paula was detained on June 8, 2011, in the port of Bonaire due to several defiencies threatening the environment and maritime safety. The ship did not meet the minimum requirements of international legislation on buoyancy, safety equipment, crew and international environmental legislation. The maritime authorities of Venezuela have been informed and they have requested the necessary checks and repairs. The ship is moored at the South Pier and will only be allowed to leave when it is found seaworthy and safe. The "Santa Paula" arrived in Aruba with a cargo of cement destined for Bonaire.
