Fire on upper deck
A fire broke out on the upper deck of the "Dumai Express 15", 147 gt (IMO: 8740852)), in the afternoon of Sep 7, 2016, in Tanjungsamak waters in the Malacca Strait. A tent and cardboard boxes burned out, creating a panic among passengers. The fire may have been caused by a cigarette butt. After it was extinguished, the ferry continued the voyage to Pulau Batam where she was inspected.
