Ramp lifting system failed in Thira

On the early morning of Aug 3, 2025, the Port Authority of Thira was informed that during the departure of the 'Nearchos K' from the port of Thira, a failure of the cable system in the ramp lifting system was detected. The ship returned to the port of Thira, where it moored safely. There were 12 passengers, 92 trucks and 24 crew members on board. The Port Authority of Thira banned the ship from sailing until a certificate of repair of the damage was presented by the monitooring classification society.

Ferry sold to Creta Cargo Lines

The Greek shipping company Creta Cargo Lines has purchased the 'Urd' for its connections between Piraeus and Crete, from the shipping company SeaLines, is expected in Greek waters. The ship will be delivered to the new owners on March 31, 2025, and will then be transferred to Greece, where it will undergo maintenance before entering service.

Medevac off Grömitz

On Nov 14, 2020, a crew member of the 'Urd' was medevaced off Grömitz jointly by the 'Hans Hackmack' of the DGzRS and an aircraft of Northern Helicopter (NHC). The 51-year ld Latvian had suffered a bleeding head injury in a fall on board and neaded to be treated in hospital. The master of the ferry informed the MRCC in Bremen at 6.45 p.m. while enroute from Travemünde to Liepaja. The ship was 15 nautical miles east of Grömitz. The 'Hans Hackmack' of the DGzRS station Grömitz and an NHC-helicopter were mobilized towards the position in the Mecklenburger Bight. The ferry diverted and headed towards the approaching lifeboat. Both ships rendezvoiused 19 miiles east of Grämitz. The lifeboat went alongside in SE winds of 3 Beaufort and a swell of 0,4 meters to embark two crew members with an emergency equipment onto the ferry. They stabilizied the victim and prepared him for the hoist. He was pulled aboard the helicopter on a stretcher and taken to hospital.
