Allision in typhoon

Tue Sep 10 09:24:14 CEST 2019 Timsen

The training ship 'Shoyo Maru' with 62 students and teachers on board was hit by the freighter 'Oyariki Maru No. 36' off Yokosuka on Sep 9, 2019, 2 a.m. in the typhoon Faxai. Both ships were moored, but the sand carrier drifted onto the training ship after its anchor dragged. It was the maiden voyage for the training and research ship which was christened only in April. She was bound to Hawaii, but sheltered during the passage of the typhoon. The voyage had to be interrupted because of the damages to hull and equipment.
