Shaft needs replacement

It was still unclear how long repairs to the "Nordic Lady" would take after the ship was damaged by grounding or suffered otherwise damage to its propeller shaft which must be replaced. Actually operators were waiting for the needed parts which they were expected to be available on Oct 29. The "Fjord Ålesund" was inserted as replacement but is unable to carry cars.

Nordic Lady disabled by loss of propeller

The "Nordic Lady" was inserted on Oct 25, 2012, as a replacement for the ferry "Kvaløy" which had suffered technical trouble on Oct 24 and was sent to a yard in Kristiansund for repairs which lasted longer than expected leaving the ferry on the slip. However, the "Nordic Lady" lost one propeller just before 10 a.m. in bad weather as it bumped into something. Divers inspected the damage after the ship had docked in Finnøya. Now the speed boat "Fjord Ålesund" was called to serve the Småge-Orta-Sandøya-Finnøya-Ona route as a deceased woman and their relatives had to be transported to the funeral from Finnøya to Ona.
