Ferry stranded with engine trouble

Sat Oct 14 22:49:53 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Norrøna" with about 700 passengers aboard suffered engine trouble in the afternoon of Oct 14, 2017, and had to drop anchor off Hirtshals in northwestern Jutland. The ferry was underway from Thorshavn to Hirtshals. In addition to the 700 passengers on board the ferry, hundreds of travelers were also waiting in Hirtshals waiting to be taken to the Faroe Islands. A tug finally pulled the ferry into port 10 hours delayed at 11.30 p.m. On Oct 15 at 5.40 a.m. she headed to the Øresund shipyard in Landskrona, where the "Norrøna" will be docked. The journey to Landskrona takes 12 hours. A lot of tourists will stay on board while the ship is in the dock. A new schedule about the return trip to Thorshavn was expected to be issued on Oct 17. The expected departure from Landskrona was Oct 18 evening or Oct 19 in the morning actually. Icelandic report with photo: http://portal.fo/norrona+komin+til+hirtshals+skal+i+dokk+i+svoriki.html
