Dredger ship ablaze on the Rhine

The engine room of the "OHF 32", 161 ts (ENI-No.: 04306710), caught fire on Dec 20, 2016, at 9.45 a.m. on the Rhine at river km 282,4 between Nierstein and Nackenheim. The crane ship was underway with two barges. It had been moored north of Nierstein when the fire broke out. Large plumes of smoke drifted over the river. The highway B9 was barred for traffic by the police. The crew on board tried to put out the fire until 10.25 a.m. Two of them were taken ashore for medical treatment due to smoke inhalation. The fire brigade continued to fight the fire from the shore.
