Ship breached on Volga
On the Volga near Kazan, the "Oksky-49" suffered a hole in the stern on Oct 17, 2018. In a strong gust of wind the ship was piled on an underwater obstacle. As a result of the accident, the hull was breached below the waterline on the port side causing water ingress into the engine room. The crew of the ship pumped out the water, there is no threat of sinking. Three ships were sent to assist by the Emergencies Ministry of Russia, the "Kama-1", "OS-27" and "Varna" to help with the pumping of water. In the coming hours, the ship will be brought to a pier, while measures were being taken to place a patch onto the hole. The accident happened while the ship was underway from Kazan to Krasnokamsk.
