Container ship caught in congestion after record loss of cargo

Wed Apr 21 11:30:22 CEST 2021 Timsen

The 'One Apus' has discharged its cargo at the port of Long Beach after its arrival on April 12. The ship has departed the port bound for Oakland on April 18. It's current status showed the vessel was drifting, likely a result of port of congestion that has spread to Oakland from southern California.

Container ship left Kobe afte rrecord container loss

Tue Mar 16 18:23:04 CET 2021 Timsen

On March 16 at 1.15 p.m. LT the 'ONE Apus' left Kobe 98 days after arriving in the port. On Nov 30, 2020, she had heeled so violently that it lost about 1,800 containers in the Pacific Ocean about 1,600 nautical miles northwest of Hawaii on its way to Los Angeles. It returned to Japan, where it remained at the quay in the port of Kobe since Dec 8 to have remaining damaged containers removed on deck and have the necessary repairs carried out. It is expected that the insurance claims will run up to more than 100 million dollars. The ship was now on its way to California again and was expected to arrive at the port of Long Beach on March 30. Report with video: https://maritimedanmark.dk/?Id=45614

Ship may return to sea mid of the month

Fri Mar 12 13:15:32 CET 2021 Timsen

The Ocean Network Express-operated 'ONE Apus' is getting ready to depart Kobe after operations to discharge collapsed and damaged containers after its record-setting cargo loss in the Pacific Ocean. The ship was tentatively schedules to depart the port on or around March 15. If so, the vessel will have an arrival date in Long Beach of around March 30, however, ONE warned that the schedule was subject to change and was without guarantee. The general plan was to back-load as many original sound and trans-loaded containers on the 'ONE Apus' as reasonably possible. It was likely that some containers originally carried on the ship may need to be carried on different vessels due to safety and/or operational constraints. Some containers may also be carried on different vessels if required documentation can’t be completed before given cutoff time A total of 940 boxes has been discharged to date.
