Captain medevaced off Alabama

The US Coast Guard medevaced the 69-year-old captain of the 'Overseas Anacortes' 218 miles offshore Alabama, on April 12, 2023. Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a call at 12:17 p.m., stating the man was experiencing heart attack-like symptoms. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the captain receive higher-level medical care within eight to 10 hours. A Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was launched to assist. The helicopter arrived on scene, hoisted the patient and transferred him to University Medical Center New Orleans. He was last reported to be in stable condition.

Aker Philadelphia Shipyard, a U.S. commercial shipyard, delivered to American Shipping Company its tenth Veteran Class MT-46 product tanker. The 46,000 dwt vessel, named the Overseas Anacortes, will leave the shipyard in the coming days under the operation of OSG America to transport petroleum products for Tesoro.
