Damage investigation off Istanbul

The 'Philipp Oldendorff' has suffered damage at the port side forecastle and side shell plating and also had various bents and deformations. The 'SSI Providence' (IMO: 9883065) suffered structural damages to the starboard side shell plating. A detailed damage survey was being carried out by the attending class and H&M surveyors on both vessels. Divers carried out underwater inspections to ascertain the extent of damage to the bottom of the vessels. Crew incident statements were collected by the incident investigation desk of the Harbour Master Both vessels remained stationary at Istanbul anchorage as of Aug 9.

The 'Philipp Oldendorf' was shifted to am anchorage area under own power and dropped anchor. An incident investigation file has been opened by the harbour master incident investigation desk. The vessel's departure permission was cancelled until the completion of damage surveys and investigations. A fine will be imposed, and it depended on the investigation result due to a breach of safe anchorage regulation. No injury and pollution were reported due to the incident. The vessel. as well as the 'SSI Providence', remained stationary at Istanbul anchorage as of Aug 7.

Collision off Istanbul

The 'Philipp Oldendorff' was in collision with the bulk carrier 'SSI Providence' at the Zeyport anchorage near Istanbul in the evening of Aug 5, 2022. A supply boat which was delivering provisions barely escaped itself. The extent of the damages was still unknown and will be investigated. Both vessels remained at the anchorage. The 'Philipp Oldendorf' had arrived from Taman, the 'SSI Providence' arrived from Haifa en route to Burgas.
