Collision on St. Lawrence River

Mon Jan 24 10:12:41 CET 2022 Timsen

The Bulk carrier 'Federal Crimson' was in collision with the stern of the 'Pierre Radisson' (IMO: 9732151), which was escorting it through the icy waters of the St. Lawrence River near Pierre-Laporte Bridge, Sainte-Foy, Canada, in the afternoon of Jan 22, 2022. Ship traffic was temporarily halted on the St. Lawrence River. The hull of the 'Pierre Radisson' was damaged in the collision, but the vessel did not take on water. The icebreaker anchored in St-Nicolas and will return to the port of Quebec City for repairs. The Canadian Coast Guard depployed the icebreaker 'Des Groseilliers' (IMO: 8006385), to take over the tasks. A third icebreaker, the 'Martha L. Black', (IMO: 8320432), which had been called in as backup, was returning to Trois-Rivieres. Transport Canada was investigating the collision.

Canadian ship rescues Russian helicopter pilot from ice floe

Mon Jul 27 19:23:28 CEST 2015 arnekiel

Search and rescue officials say a helicopter pilot who was missing near Baffin Island has been found safe. Joint Task Force Atlantic says on its Twitter feed just before 7 a.m. that the Russian pilot — Sergey Ananov — was spotted on an ice floe, “alive and well.” They say the Canadian Coast Guard ship Pierre Radisson picked up the pilot and was headed to Iqaluit, Nunavut. The small Robinson R22 two-seater helicopter disappeared Saturday afternoon over the Davis Strait while flying from Iqaluit to Nuuk, Greenland. The pilot was flying solo. A Hercules aircraft, Transport Canada, the coast guard, fishing vessels and the civilian agency CASARA were helping in the search. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-icebreaker-rescues-russian-helicopter-pilot-from-ice-flow-hes-alive-and-well
