Engine failure in Heraklion
The 'Power Jet' suffered an engine failure during its departure from Heraklion en route to Thira in the morning of Aug 4, 2023. The ship was initially banned from sailing. After repairs and a class inspection it resumed its schedule.
Turbine damage off Thira
The Port Authority of Thira was informed in the morning of May 24, 2022, by the Captain of the 'Power Jet' that en route from Heraklion to the prefecture of Thira, the turbine of the port side main engine was damaged. The ship reached the Athinios port in the prefecture of Thira unassisted, where 602 passengers disembarked safely. The Port Authority of Thira initially prohibited the departure of the ship, while after presenting a seaworthiness certificate by the classification society that monitors it, it was allowed to continue its scheduled route to the ports of Ios, Naxos and Naxos.
Water ingress in jet room
The Port Authority of Thira was informed in the afternoon of Aug 29 by the Captain of the 'Power Jet', that after the departure from the port of Athinios, prefecture of Thira, to Heraklion that the ship suffered a water ingress into the jet room. It could be brought under control, and the ship returned to the port. Back in Athinios, the passengers were safely dropped off. Following an inspection by the Port Authority as well as by a private diver, a small amount of water was found in the area of the port side jet room due to a problem in the shaft of the external port side main engine. The ship was banned from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of seaworthiness by the classification society that monitors it, while the passengers were forwarded to their destination with the care of the owner company.
