Malfunctioning oil pump caused oil spill

Sat Jun 16 09:16:01 CEST 2012 Timsen

In the afternoon of June 15, 2012, the "Classica" caused an oil spill in the Greifenstein lock, Tulln Community. The fire brigade laid out oil booms, the locks were immediately closed. The oil spill was caused by a malfunctioning oil pump in the engine room. There were 160 passengers aboard the ship. After the damage was repaired, the ship was allowed to continue its voyage downstream. Austrian report with photos: http://www.regionews.at/?set_ActivMenu=65&special=details&News_ID=35210
