74 migrants rescued from two boats
On the night of July 13, two migrant boat departures were reported to the CROSS Gris-Nez Regional. The first migrant boat was reported off Blériot beach in the middle of the night. The CROSS depolyed the 'Cormoran' to monitor the boat. After several hours of navigation and facing changing weather conditions, several people aboard the boat requested assistance. The 'Cormoran' launched its operational drome boat (EDO) to make contact. After an initial refusal of assistance, the EDO rescued seven people, and then continued to monitor the boat, which continued its voyage towards British waters with the remaining occupants having refused assistance. Once they had been taken into care by British resources, the 'Cormoran' was engaged in a second reported departure of migrants in the Hemmes-de-Marck area. The CROSS Gris-Nez also deployed the Schiebel S100 drone and the 'Ridens'. Faced with a breakdown in their boat, all migrants requested assistance and were rescued by the EDOs of the 'Cormoran' and the 'Ridens'. In addition to the seven migrants rescued earlier, the Cormoran recovered 41 people, while 26 migrants were picked up by the 'Ridens'.
46 migrants rescued in two responses
On the night of July 11, numerous migrant boat departures were reported to the CROSS Gris-Nez. First, the Action Air Environnement anti-illegal immigration aircraft reported a migrant boat in the Camiers/Sainte-Cécile area. The CROSS deployed the 'Minck' to locate the boat. Once on site, the Minck launched its operational drom boat (EDO) to make contact and monitor the boat. On the morning of July 12, in response to a request for assistance from migrants, the 'Minck' recovered three people and continued to monitor the boat, which continued its journey towards British waters, with the remaining occupants having refused assistance. The three rescued migrants were disembarked in Boulogne-sur-Mer on the early afternoon, where they were taken in by rescue services on land. At the same time, another migrant boat was reported departing in the Dunkirkarea. The CROSS Gris-Nez then deployed the PSP ' Cormoran'. It turned out that the boat was a taxi boat, which was taking on board migrants waiting on the beach at Malo-les-Bains (59). The 'Cormoran' launched its two EDOs to monitor the embarkation and ensure that no one remained in the water before the migrant boat headed out to sea. The patrol boat continued its surveillance of migrants who had entered the waters of the traffic separation scheme. At midday, the 'Cormoran' rescued a dozen migrants requesting assistance, and 31 more people requesting rescue were picked up by the 'Cormoran' at the end of the day. The remaining migrants, refusing all assistance, continued on their way. The 43 migrants rescued by the PSP 'Cormoran' were disembarked in Calais on the vening. In total, 46 people were rescued and taken into care by state resources.
