Police incident caused ferry delay
A police incident caused delays of the 'Quinitsa', serving on the route Crofton-Vesuvius Bay, on the morning of Sep 16, 2025, affecting early sailings between Vancouver Island and Salt Spring Island. The 7:05 a.m. sailing from Crofton finally departed about 30 minutes late due to the situation, which occurred at the Vesuvius terminal. The matter has since been resolved and regular service has resumed.
Ferry suffered mechanical trouble
On Feb 6, 2020, the 'Quinitsa' was held in dock at Vesuvius due to a mechanical difficulty which occurred at 2 p.m. The ship was experiencing a problem with two of its main engines while at Vesuvius, Saltspring Island, British Columbia, in position 48 52 52.4 N 123 34 24.7 W. The service to Crofton was thus delayed.
