E Forland has announced that its subsidiary Forland Subsea II has received notice of termination from Fugro Subsea Services for the charter contract of multi purpose offshore vessel Fugro Saltire. Offshore ship at sinking site of Oleg Naydenov

Mon May 11 10:37:46 CEST 2015 Timsen

The "Fugro Saltire" with two ROVS on board for patching the eight cracks from which fuel was leaking from the Russian trawler "Oleg Naydenov" arrived at Puerto de la Luz on May 9 and proceeded to the sinking site 24 kilometers off Punta Maspalomas since. The ship of the Norwegian company Otech was hired by the Ministry of Public Works to deal with the case and was due to start the work this week. Given the complexity of the operation and the water depth of 2,700 meters it was impossible to calculate how long the task would take to be completed. First it has to be checked how much of the 1,409 tons of bunker fuel wer eremaining inside the wreck 24 days after the sinking. On May 9 bad weather made it impossible to start the work. The "Luz de Mar" and "Miguel de Cervantes" continued to collect remains of the oil.
