Cabin cruiser allided with lock
On Dec 9, 2013, at 10.30 p.m. the "River Queen" allided with a gate of the Main-Donau-Canal lock in Nürnberg. The wheelhouse had not been lowered enough so that it hit against the upper part of the lock after it had been opened to allow the passage of the ship which was underway to Bamberg. The wheelhouse was crushed. None of the 140 passengers were injured. The ship could be moored at the quay underneath the lock and was detained until repairs were carried out. While the damage to the gate was minor, the damage to the ship was estimated to be at least 100.000 Euro. The water police Nürnberg launched an investigation.
