Grounding off Bukide

Fri Aug 28 10:25:49 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Sabuk Nusantara 109' ran aground with 91 persons aboard, among them 72 passengers and 19 crew members, when entering the port of Bukide, Nusa Tabukan in the Nustab District, Sangihe Islands Regency, on Aug 26, 2020, at 10.10 p.m. The ferry had departed from Lipang Port at 9.10 p.m. and was heading for Bukide Port.. It got stuck in pos. 03'45'010 ″ N 125'34.943 E due to strong winds of 35 knots speed, accompanied by strong currents that pushed the ship towards shallow waters with a depth of 2-2,5 meters. Efforts were made to attach the bow and stern rope to the Bukide pier and pull it off then. The efforts were aboarted after three hours. The National SAR Agency (BASARNAS) was informed, and several teams were mobilized to take off the passengers with the patrol boat 343 on Aug 27 at 11.30 a.m. The crew remained on board, waiting for the KM 'Belt Nusantara 69' to refloat the ferry on Agu 28 at 4 a.m. Report with photo: https://zonautara.com/2020/08/27/km-sabuk-nusantara-109-kandas-sebelum-sandar-di-pelabuhan-bukide/
