Two people rescued off Tarifa
On the morning of April 3, 2024, the CCS Tarifa of Salvamento Marítimo coordinated the rescue of two people aboard a precarious toy-type boat which was located 25 nauical miles east of Tarifa. They mobilized the SAR helicopeter Helimer 223 and the 'Salvamar Enif', which transported them to the port of Algeciras.
24 migrants rescued off El Palmar
On Dec 31, 2023, a migrant boat was located off El Palmar with an unconscious person on board. The MRCC in Tarifa mobilized the helicopter Helimer 223 that evacuates the already conscious but weak person to Jerez. The 'Salvamar Enif' rescued the remaining 23 people on board who were disembarked in Algeciras.
12 migrants rescued off Algeciras
On Oct 29, the 'Salvamar Enif' rescued three migrants who were sailing towards the Cádiz coast aboard an inflatable boat. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo was nofied at 10:40 a.m. by the container ship 'Contship Zen', which sighted the boat and indicated its position, 12 miles south of Cape Trafalgar. The 'Salvamar Enif' approached it and shortly after 11:30 rescued the three men of North African origin aboard. They have been transferred to the port of Algeciras, where the social-health care device took care of them. Already on Oct 28 the SAR vessel had rescued seven migrants in the waters of the Strait. The ship was heading to Algeciras after rescuing five North African men from an inflatable boat after receiving a warning from another similar boat, in which two other immigrants, also men of North African origin, who were rescued too.
