Yacht towed to port of Motril

On April 18, the sailing yacht SY 'Freedom' (MMSI: 257989980) was disabled and adrift seven nautical miles from Punta San Patricio. The CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Almería mobilised the 'Salvamar Gienah' from Motril to assist. A towing connection was established, and the boat could be pulled to the port. 17 migrants rescued west of Alborán Island

On March 12, 2026, at 2:00 a.m., the 'Salvamar Gienah' arrived at the Port of Motril with the 17 occupants of an inflatable boat , which had been located approximately 40 nautical miles west of Alborán Island by the vessels 'BBC Lima' (IMO: 9513622), enroute from Casablanca for orders, and 'NACC Indian' (IMO: 9116448), enroute from Eastham to Arze, which collaborated in the rescue effort. 22 migrants rescued off Motril

On the morning of Oct 28, the 'Salvamar Gienah' rescued the occupants of an inflatable boat, which had been located 18 nautical miles south of the port of Motril. Among them were 22 Maghrebi individuals, 19 men, one woman, and two minors. The operation was coordinated from the CCS Almería of Salvamento Marítimo.
