Two bulk carriers and one tanker ran aground on Parana during 24 hours

Tue Mar 13 06:19:30 CET 2012 odinfm

3 vessels ran aground during 24 hours on March 4 – 5 on Parana river, Argentina, due to the shallowing of Parana river, reported local media. Tanker PRISCO Elizaveta ran aground on 440 kilometer mark at 2110 LT March 4 loaded with 33000 mt of soybean oil, bound for India. Bulk carrier Eirini K ran aground after leaving Puerto San Martin around 0500 on 406 kilometer mark, loaded with grain bound for Israel and Greece. Bulk carrier Borak 1 was mentioned as stranded without further details. As of March 12 PRISCO Elizaveta and Eirini K were sailing along Uruguay coast towards their destinations, judging from the distance they sailed from the Parana estuary, they’ve been refloated approximately at the same time roughly about 3 days ago. Bulk carrier Borak 1 was last seen on March 11 off Montevideo, destined for Singapore. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
