Seven passengers injured in ferry accident

Seven commuters were injured when the 'Sea Spiriti', carrying 212 passengers and four crew members, slammed into a public pier on Sep 16, 2021. The catamaran allided with a pillar of the Central Public Pier 6 as it attempted to moor after arriving from Peng Chau shortly before 9 a.m. The vessel had suddenly suffered a loss of power, resulting in it hitting the pier and suffering minor damage at the port side bow. Seven passengers suffered minor injuries and carried into ambulances. Four fire engines and three ambulances took them to the Queen Mary Hospital in Pok Fu Lam and the Ruttonjee Hospital in Wan Chai for treatment. The injured were two men and five women aged 53 to 76. The ferry was now being investigated by the Marine Department. The operator Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry Ltd. was working closely with all the relevant departments on the investigation of the incident.
