Engine failure off Nanaimo

The 'Seaspan Cutlass' suffered an engine failure, while towing the barges 'Seaspan 2801' and 'Seaspan 2802' in Nanaimo, British Columbia, on Nov 17, 2020. The crew dropped anchor and carried out repairs on Nanaimo Anchorage. The tug sailed from the anchorage after their completion at 11.40 p.m. and headed to Vancouver where it arrived in the morning of Nov 18.

Fouled propeller near Port Mellon

The 'Seaspan Cutlass' with five crew members on board suffered a partial loss of propulsion caused by a steel cable wrapped in the port propeller, near Port Mellon, British Columbia, in position 49 32 08.9 N, 123 25 34.5 W, on Dec 31, 2019, at 3.30 p.m. The 'Seaspan Cutlass' proceeded to Horseshoe Bay for repairs. On Jan 3, 2020, it berthed in Nanaimo.

Barge towed by Seaspan Cutlass grounded

The barge 'Seaspan 527' (866 gt, built 2004) which was towed by the 'Seaspan Cutlass', was intentionally beached after it developed a list due to cargo shift in the Strait of Georgia, British Columbia, in position 49 04 23.4 N, 123 17 45.6 W, on Dec 13, 2019, at 06.55 a.m.
