Master medevaced in Kiel
On Mar 6, 2016, the master of the "Seeland" which was enroute from Southamptn, UK, to Rostock, fell reportedly unwell, and when the ship was approaching the Holtenau-locks of the Kiel Canal in the afternoon the pilot requested a doctor once the ship had berthed. At 3.50 p.m. the "Seeland" was inside the lock, and now an emergency doctor was required who went on board at 4.05 p.m. The captain was transferred into hospital at 4.30 p.m. At 4.40 p.m. the "Seeland" left the lock and moored on Kiel Roads off Holtenau.
