Medevac off Málaga

In the afternoon of April 7, the 'Spirit of Adventure', enroute from Algeciras to Malta, requested the medical evacuation of a passenger. The CCS of Salvamento Marítimo in Tarifa mobilised the SAR helicopter Helimer 211 to hoist the patient and a doctor from the ship, who was accompanying him. They were taken to the port of Málaga, where an ambulance was waiting for further transport to a hospital.

Medevac off Estaca de Bares

A crew member of the 'Spirit of Adventure', which was sailing 63 miles off Estaca de Bares, had to be urgently evacuated after falling ill on April 1. The doctor on board recommended a medevac by helicopter. Salvamento Marítimo deployed the SAR.helicopter Helimer 402hoisted the man and transported him at midnight to the Alvedro Airport, from where he was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital Complex of A Coruña. The cruise ship continued its voyage towards Portsmouth, Uk.

Cruise ship returned for two medevacs

On the night of Feb 10, 2026, the 'Spirit Adventure' returned to the port of Cadíz, while en route to Valencia, for the medical evacuation of two patients, aged 86 and 84. The Cádiz Civil Protection Coordination Center (CCS Cádiz) mobilized the SAR boat 'Salvamar Suhail'. The evacuation took place in the dock, and the patients were transferred to Puerto América, where an ambulance awaited them.
