Fire in engine room soon contained

On June 16, 2019, a fire broke out in the engine room of the "StarShip" during a dinner cruise short time after leaving Sparkman Wharf in Tampa. Passengers heard a “boom” and then smelt smoke. Minutes later, the crew alerted them to a fire. They were handed life jackets and told to go to the top deck as the ship turned around and returned to shore. The Tampa Fire Department responded within minutes. When firefighters boarded the vessel, the fire in the engine room was already out. Everybody was calm, the crew had everything under control. There were no injuries or threat to the passengers or crew aboard. All passengers will get a refund and gift certificate to take another dinner cruise.
