Medevac off Lake Charles

The US Coast Guard medevaced a 43-year-old woman from the 'Stolt Peserverance' 55 miles south of Lake Charles, Louisiana, on July 21, 2023. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a call from a man aboard a 22-foot pleasure craft on VHF-FM channel 16 at 3:03 p.m. that his wife was displaying symptoms of a heat stroke. Watchstanders issued a urgent marine information broadcast. The 'Stolt Perseverance' overheard the broadcast and moored alongside the pleasure craft and transported her onto their ship where she received medical attention from a physician aboard. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched to conduct the medevac.

Tanker boarded by perpetrators

While the 'Stolt Perseverance' was moored at the Dumai anchorage in position 01 42 48.0N, 101 27 00.0E, the duty watchman on routine rounds noticed four robbers armed with knives on the poop deck on Aug 28, 2020, at 8.05 p.m. They were trying to open the hatch for the emergency towing arrangements. The duty watchman informed the bridge which sounded the alarm, and all non essential crew mustered in the citadel. Hearing the alarm, the robbers fled and escaped. The Dumai port control was notified via VHF channel 12 and Coastguard officers boarded the vessel for investigation. Nothing was reported stolen.

Crew member burnt by venting steam

The US Coast Guard medevaced a 49-year-old crew member from a chemical tanker near Freeport in the evening of May 11, 2018. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from the captain of the chemical tanker for the medevac of a crew member who was reportedly burned by venting steam aboard the chemical tanker 48 miles offshore. A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, hoisted the crewmember and transported him to awaiting University of Texas Medical Branch personnel at Scholes International Airport at Galveston.
