Ferry suffered engine issue
On the afternoon of Aug 19, the Port Authority of Amorgos was informed by the Captain of the “Super Jet 2” about a strong vibration in the outer port side engine, due to the inflow of an obstruction, upon its arrival at the port of Katapola. The ship, coming from the port of Koufonisi, sailed safely to the port of Amorgos, disembarking the 35 passengers, who were then transported to their destinations by the ship-owning company, with the Cyprus-flagged “Express Jet. The “Super Jet 2” was initially banned from sailing from the Amorgos Port Station. After presenting a certificate of seaworthiness from the classification society that monitors it, it was allowed a single voyage, without passengers, to a shipyard in Salamina.
Master injured during mooring operation
On MAy 29, 2025, at noon , the Naxos Port Authority was informed by the Captain of the 'Super Jet "' about the injury of the 35-year-old Greek master during the mooring operations of the ship at the port of Naxos, coming from the ports of Mykonos - Paros - Thira - Katapola Amorgos - Koufonisi. He was injured at his right hand during the lifting of the protective mooring balloon. Initially, he was provided with first aid by other crew members and then transferred to the General Hospital-Ky. Naxos, from where he was discharged the same day. The ship continue dits scheduled route with destination to the ports of Paros - Mykonos - Paros - Sifnos - Milos. A preliminary investigation was conducted by the Naxos Port Authority.
Ferry saved 17 castaways from sinking yacht
The 'Sea Jet 2' along with the Greek Coast Guard has been able to rescue the 18 people, among them 11 men and seven women, including five minors, from the British-flagged 28-m-motor yacht 'Acvitannia' on Aug 12, 2021, which was sinking en route to Spetses 16 nautcal miles northwest of the island of Milos at noon near the islet of Antimilos. On scene, strong winds of 6 Beaufort were blowing. All of the castaways were recovered from life rafts in good condition and were transferred to the port of Milos. Only one man, 58 years old, has a bruise on his head and was transported to the Milos Health Center. The other 17 followed for a preventive check. After the crew issued a distress call, three Navy ships, several fishing boats, a private yacht and two helicopters from the Armed Forces were mobilized to the area.
