Wood chip carrier ran aground off Binh village

The 'Thanh Thanh Dat 99' with 19 crew members on board broke down en route from Thinh Long port (Ninh Binh) to Nghi Son port (Thanh Hoa) to load cargo, when entering the anchorage area on Aug 25, 2025, at 11.30 p.m., about two miles off the coast. The wood chip carrier was dragged away by sthe torm Kajiki despite dropping its starboard side anchor, and ran aground only 70-100 metres from the shore in the shallow area of ​​Binh village in the Tien Trang commune on the early morning of Aug 26. The Border Guard, the Port Authority and the Tien Trang Commune government were coordinating to support the ship. The storm Kajiki had raged for more than 10 hours in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh with winds force 12 when it made landfall. The crew on board the vessel was safe. Its captain Hoang Van Hop from Nghe An has contacted the Nghi Son Port Authority for assist in towing the ship free. The typhoon also damaged and grounded several fishing boats in the area.
