Trouble with cooling system
The 'Thor Menelaus' suffered an ice blockage of its sea water cooling system while proceeding upbound in the St. Lawrence River in position 46 44 17.2 N, 71 19 23.0 W on March 16, 2021, at 6 p.m. The ship, enroute from Fort Lauderdale to Montreal, anchored off Saint-Nicolas, Quebec, where the crew carried out repairs. Initially the vessel was able to resume its voyage, but later experienced similar issues in the Lake Saint-Pierre while heading towards Montreal in position 46 43 12.9 N, 071 22 35.8 W on March 16 at 7.35 p.m. off Saint Nicolas. The vessel proceeded to the nearest anchorage area to clean the cooling line strainers from the accumulated ice in pos. 46° 0.45' N 073° 10.32' W where it remained stationary as of March 18.
