Man injured in fall into cargo hold

Tue Jun 17 11:13:08 CEST 2014 Timsen

On June 16, 2014, fire crews rescued a worker who fell into the cargo hold of the "Navios Vector" at the Port of Los Angeles during unlaoding works. Firefighters were alerted at 11:45 a.m. following reports that the 57-year-old man had fallen into a small area over 20 feet deep at Berth 209. The area was filled with 60-foot-long steel pipes that were securely fastened, and the man was not trapped beneath them. He had suffered back and legs injuries. About 60 LAFD personnel recovered the man within about two hours. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
