Disabled freighter towed to Tuzla
The 'Nazim Bey', while en route from Tuzla to Novorossiysk in ballast condition, suffered an engine failure off Sile on Oct 5. As repairs could not be completed by the crew, the tug 'Yumurtalik' was appointed in order to tow the vessel to the Tuzla shipyard area. The towage commenced on Oct 6. During the transit pf the Istanbul strait, a Coastal Safety tug provided escort service for the vessel and strait traffic safety. On Oct 7 the ship berthed in Tuzla.
Ship disabled after engine room fire
In the night of Nov 30, 2015, the "Nazim Bey" suffered a fire in the engine room in the Black Sea, 50 miles east of Emine. The vessel, which was en route from Constanta to Tuzla, lost power after one of the generators inflamed and fire extended to the whole machinery. The crew succeeded to start the CO2 firefighting system and completely extinguished the fire. After the fire was completely extinguished and compartment was ventilated, the ship could not proceed with own power due to damage to the diesel generator. A tug of a salvage company from Burgas towed the "Nazim Bey" to an anchorage in the Bosphorus at the Buyukdere area where she will be repaired before resuming the voyage to Tuzla. Local authorities will hold an inspection of the seaowrthiness and safety on board of the ship before.
