General Dynamics NASSCO delivers final ECO Class tanker to APT

Sun Jul 09 12:25:41 CEST 2017 arnekiel

On Wednesday, June 7, General Dynamics NASSCO delivered the final ECO Class tanker constructed as part of an eight-tanker, dual-customer program. The Palmetto State was delivered to longtime customer American Petroleum Tankers (APT) during a signing ceremony at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, the Company said in a press release. In 2013, NASSCO entered into agreements with two companies, APT and SEA-Vista, LLC, to design and construct a total of eight 610-foot-long, 50,000 deadweight-ton, LNG-conversion-ready product tankers to include a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity each. The Palmetto State and its sister ships are the most environmentally friendly tankers to enter the Jones Act trade. The tankers’ “ECO” design offer 33 percent increased fuel efficiency and a corresponding reduction in ship emissions.

With the delivery of Palmetto State to American Petroleum Tankers (APT), San Diego shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO has now handed over the final ECO Class tanker constructed as part of an eight-tanker, dual-customer program. Palmetto State, delivered June 7 during a signing ceremony at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, is the final vessel in a series of eight liquefied natural gas (LNG)-conversion-ready product tankers ordered by two companies, APT and SEA-Vista, LLC, in 2013. According to the builder, the eight vessels are the most environmentally friendly tankers to enter the Jones Act trade. The tankers’ “ECO” design offer 33 percent increased fuel efficiency and a corresponding reduction in ship emissions. NASSCO said. https://www.marinelink.com/news/delivers-nassco-tanker426146

APT’s Palmetto State Passes Sea Trials

Fri Jun 02 01:06:35 CEST 2017 arnekiel

The Palmetto State, the eighth and final tanker to be constructed at General Dynamics NASSCO as part of a dual-customer program, has recently returned from its first run at sea. The Palmetto State and her sister ships are the most fuel-efficient tankers to service the Jones Act trade, according to NASSCO, who built all of the vessels at its San Diego shipyard and partnered with South Korean ship designer Daewoo Ship Engineering Company (DSEC) for the vessels’ design. With an “ECO” design, the tankers offer 33 percent increased fuel efficiency and cleaner shipping options. The ship was christened and launched at a special ceremony on March 25 and is scheduled to be delivered to American Petroleum Tankers in June. https://www.marinelink.com/news/palmetto-passes-trials425953
