Ferry rescued distressed rowers

On Mach 4, 2021, the crew of the 'Viggen' rescued a rowing boat in distress. Ålandstrafiken warned of traffic disruptions on the Åva-Osnäs route during the evening, due to the rescue mission. The Coastguard service Raja asked the ferry to help after a couple in a rowing boat had been surprised by a strong wind in Iniöfjärden and could not get ashore with own means. At 8.10 p.m. they were safe on board the 'Viggen'. At 8.30 p.m. she was back in trafficOn scene were wind speeds of 14 meters per second.

In the night of Mar 8 the "Viggen" had to be emergency stopped after the machines suddenly went full astern. The ship was about to leave Åva for Osnäs and had to fight its way through the ice when the machine had a malfunction and had at once to be shut down as the ship backed into the basin out of control. The ship was stopped 100 metres off the quay. After the ship was berthed, experts from Sweden were called to carry out repairs and the passengers accomodated in hotels.
