Crew member lost over board found dead

In the morning of Aug 27, 2017, a 55 year old Polish crew member of the "Viking" fell over board on the IJsselmeer. A large-scale search was started off Lemmer after the ship alerted the Coastguard, sailing in the Noordermeergeul, around 8.40 a.m. Dreggen. The Coast Guard deployed a helicopter, a team of Stichting Opsporingsapparatuur Drekingen Urk was on the spot as well as the police, four boats from the KNRM Urk and Lemmer and boast of Rijkswaterstaat. In the afternoon the body of the missing sailor was found. The police started investigating the fatal accident, the body of the sailor was subject of an autopsy to find out the cause of the accident.
