Another trawler threatened to get wrecked off Figueira da Foz

Fri Nov 13 11:19:58 CET 2015 Timsen

After having suffered engine trouble and while trying to enter of the port of Figueira da Foz, the "Catrua" with nine crew members on board on Nov 12, 2015, at 01:30 a.m. was in imminent danger of alliding with the North Jetty. The ship had got completely out of the normal navigation in thick fog. Another trawler, the "Scorpius", which was about to leave, warned the master of the ship of the impending collision. The master immediately reversed and managed to avoid running onto the north side of the jetty, but was without propulsion and drifting. The "Marco Flavio", a small fishing vessel of 13 meters length and 150 horsepower, passed a towing wire and prevented the trawler, which was drifting btowards the south jetty, from running aground and getting wrecked. However, the small fishing vessel found itself at risk of allision with the rocks and had to drop the trawler which was eventually towed into the fishing port by the trawler "Neptune".
