Vonar floating again

Fri May 09 18:10:52 CEST 2014 Timsen

On May 8 the "Vonar" was brought back on track with the help of the giant crane "Eide Lift 7" from Eide Marine Services in Høylandsbygd which was towed to Harstad by the "Eide Max". As soon as the "Vonar" was floating again, it was towed to its homeport Ålesund and docked at the Vegsund Slip AS. HAMEK still cannot slip ships due to the damages at the yard. The Yard was working to get an overview of the damage caused to the slip and get it repaired. Norwegian report with photo: http://www.ht.no/incoming/article9643777.ece

Crane ship to pull trawler upright

Thu May 08 17:49:00 CEST 2014 Timsen

The tug "Eide Max" was sent to Harstad along with the crane "Eide Lift 7" to assist in righting the "Vonar". The ship, once upright, was to be towed to Sunnmøre and pulled onto the Vegsund Slip for further repair of the damage caused when the ship tilted, and to get the original problems with the propeller fixed. Situation of heeling trawler unchanged

Tue Apr 29 11:51:57 CEST 2014 Timsen

On Apr 28 the "Vonar" was still heeling on the slip in Samasjøen. The vessel hit the wall with its bow when it was on the way into the hall of the Harstad Mechanical Yard in the morning of Apr 25. Work was on to find a solution, and a company was called that can help HAMEK to rectify the ship as Hamek is not able to fright it with own means. As long as the "Vonar" remains stuck, no other ships can be slipped at the yard. There was still no explanation why the accident happened.
