Tug allided with Cairo Bridge

Thu Jan 21 11:45:44 CET 2016 Timsen

The U.S. 51 Ohio River Cairo Bridge over the Ohio River has reopened to normal traffic. An inspector found no signs of structural damage to the pier during the required safety check after on Jan 20, 2016, at 8:30 p.m. a barge of the "Wayne P. LaGrange" hit the right descending pier of the US 51/US 60/US 62 bridge in winds of 30 miles/h. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet halted traffic on the bridge between Cairo, Illinois, and Wickliffe, Kentucky, and sent an inspector checking out the bridge. Traffic was kept off the bridge during this time. Report with photo: http://www.kfvs12.com/story/31018072/traffic-halted-after-barge-hits-cairo-bridge
