Collision on the Ems
In the afternoon of Mar 23, 2015, the "Josef Möbius" was in collision with a Dutch flagged barge on the Ems between Emden and Eemshaven. The accident was caused by a technical failure of the rudder gear of the dredger which veered off its course and hit the aft of the barge with the bow. The hull of the dredger was deformed by six centimeters. The water police Emden launched an investigation. The relevant authorities carried out a technical survey of the dredger in Emden, while the barge was investigated after its arrival in Delfzijl. On Mar 28 the "Josef Möbius" entered the Bredo Yard in Bremerhaven.
