German Ship aground off Fænø

Fri Jan 02 09:12:38 CET 2015 arnekiel

A 80 meter long German freighter on New Year's Eve grounded on the south side of Fænø in the Little Belt. The German cargo ship Langeland was on the way to Kolding with a cargo of fertilizer when it ran aground south of Fænø between 04:00 and 05:00 New Year's Eve, said Funen Police. Police have been on board the ship and alcohol tested the captain, but he was not affected, says head of security at Funen Police, Kenneth Taanquist. - So far, we consider the grounding as a result of inattention, he says. According to the rules, such an accident reported to Admiral Danish Fleet immediately, but the ship's captain reported first grounding around 7:30 o'clock Thursday and it means he can wait a fine of 10,000 crowns, said the duty officer. In addition, the Navy examine what damage has happened on the ship and any risk of contamination.
