Delays after assistance to distressed boat

Wed Jul 29 12:40:43 CEST 2020 Timsen

The 'Chelan', serving the San Juan Islands was pulled from service to assist a vessel in distress and a second ferry had a crew shortage in the morning of July 28, 2020. She was pulled from its normal route by the U.S. Coast Guard before 4:30 a.m. and asked to help out a vessel with two people and a dog aboard. The 'Chelan''s 4:30 a.m. sailing from Anacortes to Friday Harbor was delayed along with the 5:55 a.m. sailing from Friday Harbor and the 6:40 a.m. sailing from Lopez to Anacortes. The ferry was now running about 60 minutes behind schedule.

WSF CHELAN 7808140

Mon Nov 15 10:41:25 CET 2010 Timsen

Ferry service was disrupted for several hours on Nov 14, 2010, on the Mukilteo to Clinton run after the "Chelan", 1941 dwt (IMO: 7808140), of Washington States Ferries had to be taken out of service for most of the day while repairs were affected to the vessel by its crew. That left one ferry, the "Cathlamet", to handle the weekend commuters. Traffic backed up in Clinton, with drivers facing a wait of at least one hour in the early evening. The wait was shorter in Mukilteo. Both ferries were operating by 4 p.m.
