Medevac in Mumbai

Rhe Indian Coast Guard (ICG) carried out a medevac from the "Rickmers Shanghai". The Filipino crewmember Pilayre Gil Lopena (46) had crushed his fingers and suffered severe fractures in a work accident in the night of Aug 1, 2017. The incident occurred around 350 kms off Mumbai when the ship was heading to Singapore from Jebel Ali. The MRCC immediately diverted the vessel to Mumbai anchorage and contacted the agent from M/S ISS Shipping. In the meanwhile the medical team of the MRCC provided regular medical advice to the master and regular update on condition of the patients were undertaken. Necessary assistance was provided to the agent in obtaining clearances from customs/immigration department. The Indian Coastguard in sync with the agent made arrangements to disembark the patient safely at Mumbai anchorage through a tug. The vessel arrived at Mumbai anchorage at around 2.30 a.m. on Aug 2, and the patient was disembarked onboard the tug "Reve" at 7.30 a.m. The condition of patient was reported to be stable. He twas hospitalized at Wockhardt Hospital. The vessel was on passage to Singapore when the medical emergency cropped up late evening on Tuesday. "T," said the official. ," said the official.
