Diesel repair in Willemstad successful

Sat Jul 29 22:31:57 CEST 2017 Timsen

After successful repairs, the Zr. Ms "Zeeland" is again at sea. The patrol boat departed from Curacao for trials which were successful. IT had spent about two weeks with broken engines in Willemstad. Tests at sea have recently revealed that the problems with the starboard engine have been resolved. In addition to the main diesel, the vessel still has the electric motors for low speeds. The other engine will also be repaired in a previously planned period. On July 12, Zr.Ms. Zeeland had arrived at Annabaai with two damaged MAN main diesel engines. Immediately, support from Den Helder was asked to repair the diesels.

Patrol vessel disabled by engine damage

Wed Jul 19 11:17:36 CEST 2017 Timsen

The "Zeeland" which departed from Den Helder to Curaçao end of June 2017 to act as a so-called station ship in the Caribbean for coastal defense and the fight against drug trafficking suffered engine trouble on the way to the port of Willemstad, Zeeland got engine problems. As a result, it was delayed for a week. The Dutch navy immediately sent a team of mechanics to address the engine problems. The "Zeeland" was docked for a major maintenance last year and back only a month before the departure. The team of technicians which was investigating the damage hoped to find out more this week.
