Grounding off Herøy
The "Nidarø" ran aground off Herøy in Nordland in the night of Dec 1, 2012, at 1.30 a.m. The Seløy based subsea service vessel "Nautilus" was called to pull the ship off.The crew of four was not harmed in the grounding. The skipper has stated that there was bad weather and strong winds when the grounding occurred. After the "Nautilus" had refloated the cargo ship, it was towed to North Herøy and then Sandnessjøen. Divers have surveyed the hull and found that the camshaft was damaged.
Gravel boat caused power loss
Large parts of the island Dønna have been without power after the "Nidarø" tore down a high voltage cable in the North bay of Solfjellsjøen. The ship has ripped off the wires. The top of the high-voltage mast standing on one side is broken, while the opposite has been skewed. The gravel boat is equipped with a conveyor belt that rises 21 metres into the air in an upright position. It probably tore off the wires. The power was lost on Mar 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. from Olfoten to Glein, including Solfjellsjøen and Våg, but around 3 p.m. power was restored on Solfjellsjøen apart from a stretch from the northern bay of Glein.
