The 'William Inglis' had to do emergency stop after suffering mechanical issues while docking at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal in Toronto on the evening of Sep 5, 2024. The ferry drifted into the wooden slip at thel downtown terminal at around 6:15 p.m. Paramedics and Toronto police's marine unit were called to the scene but no injuries to passengers or crew were reported. An investigation is underway to determine exactly what happened, and the ferry has been removed from service.

The 'AP Revelin' ran aground on the Paraná River on Sep 6, 2024, at around 11 p.m., completely blocking the main channel at river kilometer 341.8. The ship, which was sailing with a draft of 9.54 meters, was carrying 32,074 metric tons of soybean meal bound for Turkey, after having loaded at the port of San Lorenzo. The incident has caused the temporary suspension of all operations on the waterway. The blockage was affecting both cargo ships and other vessels that use ther waterway. Immediately after the grounding, the captain requested urgent assistance. In response, the tug 'RE Candela S' was dispatched and arrived at the scene on Sep 7, at 1:20 p.m. to try to free the ship and restore navigation. The causes that led to the grounding were being investigated. After having been stuck for 12 hours, the bulk carrier was refloated on Sep 7 at 1.15 p.m. and taken to San Pedro for surveys.

Gautam Adani is looking to expand his ports empire by closing in on buying a 65-70 per cent stake in Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd, the entity promoted by Hyderabad-based CVR Group to run a private deep-water port at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), India’s biggest private port operator, is expected to pay more than ₹5,500 crore to buy the stake which will give it access to the country’s largest waterfront area (for a port) of 12.5 km and a transit storage area of 6,800 acres. It started operations in 2008. Currently, the port has a draft of 18.5 metres, a depth that can accommodate full-loaded Capesize vessel of 200,000-tonne capacity.

Chinese city-gas distributor Shenzhen Gas will launch next week in southern China its first fully-owned terminal to import liquefied natural gas (LNG), a company executive told Reuters on Friday. This will make Shenzhen Gas the second city gas distributor backed by a local government that owns an LNG import facility.

On Sep 5, 2024, the 'Christiana P' was immobilized in Ramallo due to a power outage. The bulk carrier was carrying 40000 tons of sorghum and bound from the ACA Terminal in San Lorenzo to the Buenos Aires port of Quequén to load another 25000 tons barley, bound for China, and was sailing towards Puerto Quequén. Although it was initially thought to be grounded, the ship actually suffered a blackout. The ship had to emergency anchor practically in front of the Puerto Martins Shipyard.

The US Coast Guard medevaced an 52-year-old man from athe 'Carnival Breeze' off Galveston, Texas, on Sep 5, 2024. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at 7:55 p.m. from the cruise ship, stating a 52-year-old male passenger presented symptoms of a stroke aboard the vessel. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. The watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter air crew to conduct the medevac. The helicopter arrived on scene, embarked the passenger and transported him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in stable condition.
Walvis Bay
In the morning of Aug 17, 2019, around 7 a.m. a fire broke out aboard the Namibian trawler "Ocean Tide", 296 gt (IMO: 7220839), which was moored at the jetty of the Seaworks Fish Processors. One of the 20 crew members on board, was found dead following the fire. The deceased was identified as 40-year-old Hausiku Mathews Sivambo. It was believed he became trapped inside the vessel and burned to death. His body was removed the next morning. The family of the deceased was present at the scene. The 'Carnival Spirit' collided with a small piece of ice sailing through the Tracy Arm Fjord, home to the twin Sawyer Glaciers, on a 7-night cruise in Alaska on Sep 5, 2024. The impact caused minimal damage. The crew conducted a thorough inspection to assess for any potential damage and ensure the safety of all passengers. The piece of ice, smaller than a growler or large iceberg, hit the starboard side of the vessel. After crew members had completed their inspection with a small boat, the ship was cleared to resume the sailing and continued to Skagway. The vessel arrived in Juneau on Sep 7, before heading head to Ketchikan and Victoria, British Columbia, and returning to Seattle. On Sep 6 the pleasure boat 'Emma' with six people on board, among them one1 baby, which was located near Torrenova in the Bay of Palma, requested towing assistance and indicates that it was drifting owards the rocks. The CCS Palma of Salvamento Marítimo mobilized the 'Salvamar Libertas' and a civil protection boat, which was in the Lima Uno area, and after a towing connection was established, the boat could be pulled to safety.

Australia’s New South Wales government said on Wednesday it will fast track its review of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal at the port of Newcastle, proposed by a South Korean firm, as the state urgently looks to beef up gas supply. The $430 million Newcastle GasDock LNG project, planned by South Korean firm EPIK, was declared “critical state significant infrastructure”, which means the project will not have to go to the state’s independent planning commission for approval, saving several months in the review process.
