Tug grounded at Rix Island
On Nov 2, 2021, the 'Cadal', while hauling a barge from Kitimat to Kemano, ran aground. The crew was eating dinner around 7 p.m. and another deckhand was on watch when the vessel briefly got stuck at Rix Island in the Gardner Canal. The captain was able to reverse the vessel, and then used it to ram the barge it was towing to prevent it from also running aground. The man tightened up pretty good and later sought treatment for severe neck pain. The crew checked the vessel over to ensure it wasn’t taking on water, then completed the voyage to Kemano.

The voyage was resumed after completion of repairs on Sep 28 at 11 p.m.
